Industry 4.0 describes a fundamental innovation and transformation process of industrial value creation. This transformation is about new forms of doing business and working in global and digital ecosystems. Rigid and firmly defined value chains are to be replaced by flexible, highly dynamic and globally networked value creation networks with new types of cooperation.
In Industry 4.0, production dovetails with state-of-the-art information and communication technology. In this way, products can be manufactured according to individual customer requirements.
The focus is on data-driven business models as customer value and solution orientation; these are replacing product centricity as the dominant paradigm of industrial value creation.
